Westchester County has about 940,000 residents and is part of the New York Metropolitan Area. It was named after Chester, in England, and the county seat is White Plains. Westchester County is an easy commute from NYC and is far less congested than other suburbs around the city. It is also considered a shopping meca for suburban living with several major malls located primarily in the White Plains vacinity.

Air - Westchester also has it's own airport in White Plains (HPN). Other easily accessable airports within an hour of Westchester include La Guardia (LGA), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Newark International (EWK) and Stewart Airport. Car - Westchester County is well served by a major highway system made up of Interstates and Parkway's. For those of you that are new to the area, in New York State only cars are allowed on parkways. Commercial vehicles and trucks must use the Interstate or secondary roads. Running N/S are the Hutch, Bronx River, The Cross Bronx, Sprain Brook, Taconic, I-87 (The New York State Thruway) and I-684 highways. Running E/W are I-287, I-84, I-95 and several of the N/S routes run E/W through part of Westchester County. Bus - The Bee-Line System provides public transportation throughout Westchester County. Rail - Many people working in NYC commute primarily via Metro-North Railroad into Grand Central Station.
